At American Top Team Asheville, we believe martial arts can change lives. We show up every day to prove it. We are western North Carolina’s only MMA academy coached by former UFC fighters, and a proud affiliate of American Top Team, the most successful fight camp in the world.
Our community is one of the most special you will find anywhere. Students aged 3 to 75, total beginners and professional athletes, all training under one roof and pushing each other to be better. We offer Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Boxing, Wrestling, Judo, and MMA across 85+ classes per week, plus personal training and nutrition coaching. Whatever someone is working toward, we have a path for them.
To transform people’s lives through the power of professional, world-class mixed martial arts training.
We are a small, close team that genuinely loves what we do. Walk in on any given day and you will find coaches who care deeply about every student, a facility we keep to an unusually high standard (yes, we notice the little things), and a community where people feel at home from day one.
We are a “we can do better” kind of place, and we mean that in the best possible way. We celebrate wins, then immediately start asking how to top them. If that sounds exhausting to you, this probably is not the right fit. If it sounds like fun, keep reading.
We run on honesty, integrity, and respect, for each other, our students, and the art we teach. We teach real, effective martial arts and we take that responsibility seriously. Our doors are open to anyone who comes with the right spirit, to grow, to push themselves, and to be a good member of this community. Your background, where you come from, your experience level, none of it matters as long as you show up with good intentions and treat people right. We are a-political, a-religious, and a-sexual in our environment, and we work hard every day to keep it that way.
If our mission to transform lives through martial arts speaks to you, we think you might be exactly what we are looking for. Keep that word in mind when you apply.
Here is the honest version of this job: you are going to be the person our members look forward to seeing. You remember their name. You ask how training is going. You celebrate the wins, big and small. You notice when someone goes quiet and you reach out before they disappear. In short, you are the kind of person who makes a place feel like home, and that is not something everyone can do.
It is also a role with real responsibility. You will own the member experience from start to finish, and your results will show up in the numbers. That means being just as sharp with your systems and follow-through as you are in conversation. Both matter. You cannot charm your way out of a disorganized inbox.
- You love martial arts, fitness, or both. You do not need to be a black belt, but this world has to genuinely excite you
- You are the kind of person who lights up a room without trying. Students, parents, and fighters all feel at ease around you
- You are warm and outgoing on the outside and quietly airtight on the inside. People can count on you, always, even when no one is watching
- You can hold a great conversation with a parent dropping off their 3-year-old and then turn around and talk shop with a fighter cutting weight for their next bout, and both walk away feeling like you were fully present
- You do not take yourself too seriously, but you take your work very seriously. There is a difference and you know it
- You always ask “how do we make this better?” and you actually mean it
- You have 1 to 3 years in customer success, membership, sales, event planning, or any people-first role where relationships were at the center of the work
- You have led a team, managed a book of accounts, or run a program on your own. That kind of experience is a real plus here
- You can take an event from a blank page to a full room, and you enjoy the whole process
- Sales feel natural because you actually care about the person you are talking to. It is never about the transaction
- Must be able to pass a background check prior to employment
Experience in a gym, martial arts school, or fitness environment puts you at the top of our list. But the right person with the right attitude will always find a home here, credentials or not.
We would love to meet you. Here is how to apply:
- 1Send us your resume
- 2Tell us about your connection to martial arts or fitness
- 3Write a short note about why you think you are the right fit for this role and this team. Please write it in your own words. We want to hear your actual voice, not a polished version of it. Generic or AI-assisted applications tend to stand out for the wrong reasons, and we are looking for someone who communicates naturally and with personality
- 4Include a specific word you will find in the body of this posting in your subject line
- 5Be ready to provide three professional references. We ask for them and we actually call them, every single one
We read every application. The note matters more than you might think.
